The Model 52-Series Vehicle Kit enables the Model 52-Series Personnel Portal Monitors to be easily configured for use as portable vehicle monitors. The components for the two bases may be placed into the transport & storage case provided with the Model 52-Series instrument, thereby providing the user with the option of choosing to operate the instrument as either the Personnel Portal monitor or as the Vehicle Portal monitor.

Each vehicle base is ruggedly constructed in powder-coated aluminum. The bases are assembled by means of keyhole-and-pin arrangement so no special tools are required. In this application the top and base sections of the portal monitor are not used. When assembled as such and placed on level ground each of the two uprights can withstand wind of approximately 30 mph. Guy wires and stakes can be provided for additional stability if desired. Bases can be placed up to 3.7 m (12 ft) apart to allow passage of the vehicles between the stands for radiation contamination survey.

The kit includes two stands and sufficient cable to station the legs of the portal monitor (not included) wide enough to function as a vehicle monitor.
